Katharine Montpetit

B.C.L., LL.B., LL.M.

Katharine Montpetit is Counsel at Rubin & Co. LLP. She is an experienced investigator, conducting both workplace and regulatory investigations, and has particular expertise in conducting investigations with allegations of sexual assault and sexual harassment. Katharine provides these investigation services for a wide range of organizations and industries. These include post-secondary institutions, the media and entertainment sector, the health sector, and paramilitary organizations. Katharine uses a trauma-informed approach in all her investigations.

Katharine also conducts assessments and reviews of organizations from a gender-based lens, and provides consulting services on matters of sexual misconduct.

Katharine practises in a complex area involving highly contentious and sensitive matters. Her fair, neutral, and thorough approach has been recognized by various arbitrators and courts alike, including in the recent decision of Toronto Metropolitan Faculty Association (2025 CanLII 95115 (ON LA)).

Born and raised in Montreal, Katharine received her LL.B./B.C.L. from McGill University and her LL.M. from York University. She was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2012. She holds certifications in interviewing children (Centre for Investigative Interviewing, Griffith University) and in adjudication for administrative agencies, boards, and tribunals (Osgoode/SOAR).
